Design and project management of a new system for supplying lubricating oil to the bearings, crank pins and crosshead slippers of a reciprocating compressor manufactured by the Bryan Donkin Company in 1978.
Oil system assembly in Autodesk Inventor – section through crankcase
The existing reciprocating compressor incorporated an oil pump that was integral with the crankcase end cover. Needing a replacement oil pump the opportunity was taken to upgrade the oil system with off the shelf components for easier servicing, spares and repairs.
Process piping was designed according to ASME B31.3 and manufacturing drawings created using Autodesk Inventor. My responsibilities also included procurement of components including pump, process valves, instrumentation and piping.
